Aisling's World

Yesterday is but a dream, and tomorrow is only a vision, but today well lived makes every yesterday a dream of happiness and every tomorrow a vision of hope.

Election Fun

So Bertie finally got around to deciding on a date for the elections, the 24th of may it is!
However according to this article, we may not get to vote at all! Instead we will get direct rule from London

"BELFAST, Northern Ireland, April 29 (UPI) -- The president of Northern Ireland, Mary McAleese dissolved parliament Sunday as Prime Minister Bertie Ahern announced an election next month. The move came after Ahern met with British Prime Minister Tony Blair in London, Sky News reported. However, in a joint statement issued in London, Ahern and Blair said the proposed May 24 vote could be called off if a power-sharing agreement wasn't reached by Ahern's Fianna Fail party and the right of center Progressive Democrats in the 166-seat parliament known as the Dail."If at any point it became clear that parties were unwilling to fulfill their commitments ... and support for policing, it would be unreasonable to expect the people of Northern Ireland to continue with an election to an assembly which would not exist," the statement said.Ahern is seeking a third term in office, and a report said the race is expected to be close."- United Press International via The Washington Times

Hilarious..that was certainly news to me!!

For the Record, Mary McAleese is the president of the Republic of Ireland and Bertie Ahern is the Prime Minister of the Republic and em ...the last time I checked we were independent and have been for a while!

Catching Up

Today one of my lecturers wished us the best with whatever we do with "the rest of our lives".It is strange to think that my time in university is drawing to a close and so soon, obviously I know that in just over a month my time in DCU will be over but I have been so focused on simply getting through the next few weeks, on finishing this assignment, completing that presentation and preparing for exams, that I had almost forgotten the reality of what getting through these weeks will mean.

Last Thursday were the Clubs and Societies awards, a night for about 200 of the most active members of all the different student organisations to get together celebrate their achievements throughout the year, it is always a really nice night (a night out with dinner and wine in a fancy hotel paid for by the University is always nice :p ) but it is also a chance to spend time with some good friends, some of the most pro-active and involved students, who really contribute to the experience of being a student in DCU, through the events and projects that are run throughout the year. It was wonderful to have a chance to catch up with people and to reminisce about the last four years but also a reminder of what I will really miss about DCU.

On Saturday night though I had a timely reminder, that things don't really change that much and that time and changing circumstances don't make a difference to real friendships, Lea's Birthday was a chance to catch up with people, some of whom I have been friends with since I was 4 years old, and even though we have all become quite different people. It simply doesn't matter. No matter how long it is since I have seen them, we still have as much fun as ever and I know that they are always there for me ...Thanks Guys I needed that :-)

Life is just not fair :p

So this morning we were all up early in my house, my mum, my sister and I getting ready to go to work..... my dad and my brother getting ready to go to the airport to head off to (another) rugby match.

as my sister would say...That is not FAIR

I do however get to have a nice girly evening with my Mum and Triona and to take a trip out here Though I am under strict instructions not to let my mum buy anything as we have run out of wall space and already have a rotation system in place...we will see :)

IPM 2007

Still recovering from and reflecting on this experience. It was a really interesting conference, with ups and downs and raising a lot of questions that I am still trying to answer but it was an incredible experience and an opportunity to spend time with some of my favorite people, to meet all the MCPe and to get to know the people that I am going to share the next year with.

WENA :) I have no idea why JJ looks so scared in this picture!
MCPs 07/08 New PAI....Gabiza
