Catching Up
Today one of my lecturers wished us the best with whatever we do with "the rest of our lives".It is strange to think that my time in university is drawing to a close and so soon, obviously I know that in just over a month my time in DCU will be over but I have been so focused on simply getting through the next few weeks, on finishing this assignment, completing that presentation and preparing for exams, that I had almost forgotten the reality of what getting through these weeks will mean.
Last Thursday were the Clubs and Societies awards, a night for about 200 of the most active members of all the different student organisations to get together celebrate their achievements throughout the year, it is always a really nice night (a night out with dinner and wine in a fancy hotel paid for by the University is always nice :p ) but it is also a chance to spend time with some good friends, some of the most pro-active and involved students, who really contribute to the experience of being a student in DCU, through the events and projects that are run throughout the year. It was wonderful to have a chance to catch up with people and to reminisce about the last four years but also a reminder of what I will really miss about DCU.
On Saturday night though I had a timely reminder, that things don't really change that much and that time and changing circumstances don't make a difference to real friendships, Lea's Birthday was a chance to catch up with people, some of whom I have been friends with since I was 4 years old, and even though we have all become quite different people. It simply doesn't matter. No matter how long it is since I have seen them, we still have as much fun as ever and I know that they are always there for me ...Thanks Guys I needed that :-)
